We are a welcoming and inclusive volunteer group of developers, designers, data geeks, and citizen activists who use creative technology to solve civic and social problems.
Formerly Code for San Francisco, we run the city’s longest-running weekly hack night, now going on 13 years. We are a training ground for aspiring designers, engineers, researchers, and project managers, a home base for those in-between jobs, a place to learn and experiment for career-switchers, an opportunity for seasoned professionals to give back and mentor those new to their field, and a community for like-minded individuals who care about using technology to improve San Francisco.
Our success stories include Adopt-a-Drain, which was built by SF Civic Tech volunteers and is now run by the SF Public Utilities Commission since 2016, ShelterTech which became its own 501(c)3 non-profit powering the SF Service Guide, and WeVote, which also became its own 501(c)3 non-profit to help educate voters on their ballots.
